History Of Spirit of Texas Bank
Spirit of Texas Bank was established on September 7, 1976, under the name First Bank of Snook. It became a member of the Federal Reserve System shortly after its founding. On October 13, 1976, the institution changed its name to First Bank of Snook, marking its first significant rebranding. In 2008, the bank underwent a series of transformations, including a name change to Spirit of Texas Bank, SSB, a move to College Station, Texas, and a change in its regulatory status to that of a stock savings bank supervised by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Spirit of Texas Bank expanded significantly through acquisitions, including Texas Community Bank in The Woodlands, Texas in December 2013, and several other regional banks in the following years, such as Peoples Bank in Colleyville, Texas, Oasis Bank in Houston, Texas, and The Comanche National Bank in Comanche, Texas. Ultimately, on April 9, 2022, Spirit of Texas Bank merged with Simmons Bank, based in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, becoming part of a larger financial institution.
