Southern Commerce Bank was established on June 8, 1987, originally under the name Parkway Commerce Bank. Following its establishment, the institution underwent several transformations, including a name change to Southern Commerce Bank on January 1, 1988. On July 8, 2006, Southern Commerce Bank transitioned to a national bank and became a member of the Federal Reserve System. On the same day, it also changed its primary regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Southern Commerce Bank continued its operations until June 19, 2015, when it merged with Academy Bank, National Association, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
