History Of SMBC Manubank
SMBC Manubank, originally established on October 29, 1962, as Manufacturers Bank, has undergone several name changes and relocations throughout its history. The bank's first notable change occurred in July 1970 when it moved its main office to 135 East Ninth Street, Los Angeles, California, and adopted the name Manufacturers Bank. The institution expanded its operations by acquiring Lincoln Bank in Van Nuys, California, at the end of 1973. In July 1981, the bank changed its name to Mitsui Manufacturers Bank following the acquisition of The Mitsui Bank of California, also located in Los Angeles. The main office moved again in October 1982 to 515 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, California. The institution reverted to the name Manufacturers Bank on March 4, 2014, and later changed its trust powers to full status on August 27, 1999. On June 5, 2017, the main office was relocated once more to its current address at 515 South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. In a further evolution of its identity, the institution changed its name to SMBC Manubank on December 1, 2023.
