History Of Simplicity Bank
Simplicity Bank was established on November 11, 1953, originally under the name Kaiser Permanente Federal Credit Union. Initially, the institution was not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). In 1999, it underwent a series of changes, including a transition to a Mutual Savings & Loan organization and a change in its chartering agency to the Office of Thrift Supervision. On November 1, 2001, the main office was relocated to 1359 North Grand Avenue in Covina, California. The institution's name changed to Kaiser Federal Bank on May 28, 2002, and it later switched its organization type to Stock Savings & Loan on July 1, 2003. On July 21, 2011, Simplicity Bank transitioned its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The name was officially changed to Simplicity Bank on November 13, 2012. The bank ultimately merged with HomeStreet Bank in Seattle, Washington, on March 1, 2015, thus concluding its independent operations.
