The bank initially set its main office in Santa Clara, California, which was later relocated to 3000 Lakeside Drive on December 2, 1986. On the same day, Silicon Valley Bank acquired National InterCity Bank, also located in Santa Clara. The main office moved again on August 4, 1995, to 3003 Tasman Drive in Santa Clara, California. In a strategic expansion, the bank acquired Boston Private Bank & Trust Company in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 1, 2021.
