Signature Bank was established in 1894 under the name The State Bank of Port Hope. The institution underwent a significant transformation in 1993, when it changed its name to Signature Bank and acquired the First National Bank of Bad Axe. On the same date, the main office relocated to One East Huron Avenue in Bad Axe, Michigan. Over the years, Signature Bank engaged in several mergers, starting with its merger into Talmer Bank and Trust on February 6, 2015, in Troy, Michigan. This was followed by a merger with Chemical Bank on November 11, 2016, in Midland, Michigan. The bank continued to merge with TCF National Bank in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on August 1, 2019, and ultimately became part of The Huntington National Bank on June 9, 2021, in Columbus, Ohio.
