Security Federal Bank

Security Federal Bank was established on January 1, 1962, originally under the name Security Federal Savings and Loan Association. In 1990, it changed its institutional name to Security Federal Savings Bank, and later, in 1997, it rebranded as Security Federal Bank while also changing its organization type to a stock savings bank. Over the years, the bank underwent several regulatory changes, including transitioning its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 2011, and subsequently to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in 2013. In May 2013, it changed its bank class to FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank and its chartering agency to State. On March 19, 2021, Security Federal Bank merged with Community First Bank, Inc. in Walhalla, South Carolina. Later, on August 1, 2024, it became part of Dogwood State Bank in Raleigh, North Carolina.
