Security Bank, originally established as Newbern State Bank on January 1, 1931, has undergone several name changes and organizational shifts throughout its history. On November 6, 1968, the institution changed its name to Security State Bank. In 1980, the main office was relocated to 602 West Main Street in Newbern, Tennessee. The bank adopted the name Security Bank on July 30, 1988. A significant event in its history occurred on June 15, 1990, when Security Bank acquired Century Federal Savings Bank located in Trenton, Tennessee. In a series of regulatory changes on July 15, 2002, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve System and reclassified itself as a state-chartered bank, officially becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System.
