Salin Bank and Trust Company

Salin Bank and Trust Company was established on May 15, 1902, originally under the name The Farmers & Merchants State Bank. Throughout its history, the bank underwent several significant changes and acquisitions. In 1975, it withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System but later rejoined as a member on December 1, 1998, when it changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. The bank acquired several institutions over the years, including The Cass County State Bank in Walton, Indiana, in 1984, Columbus Bank and Trust Company in Columbus, Indiana, in 1996, and Blue River Federal Savings Bank in Edinburgh, Indiana, in 2002. On October 31, 1994, the institution changed its name to Salin Bank and Trust Company. The main office was relocated to 8455 Keystone Crossing Drive in Indianapolis, Indiana, on August 1, 1995. In a notable transition, Salin Bank and Trust Company became part of Horizon Bank on March 26, 2019, and subsequently changed its name to Horizon Bank.
