History Of Rabobank

Rabobank, National Association was established on March 19, 1981, originally as Valley Independent Bank. Over the years, the institution underwent several significant changes and expansions, including a series of acquisitions. It became a member of the Federal Reserve System on November 14, 1997, and subsequently changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve on the same date. In 2005, the bank adopted the name Rabobank, National Association and transitioned to a national bank status under the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. This period marked an aggressive growth strategy, with several key acquisitions, including the Bank of the Desert in La Quinta, California, in 1996, and Kings River State Bank in Reedley, California, in 2001. The bank continued to expand through government-assisted mergers, bringing in institutions such as Pacific State Bank and Butte Community Bank in 2010. Rabobank's headquarters were relocated to Roseville, California, in 2010. Ultimately, on August 31, 2019, Rabobank merged and became part of Mechanics Bank, headquartered in Walnut Creek, California.
