History Of Progressive Bank

Progressive Bank, a financial institution with a history dating back to its establishment on March 4, 1911, originally operated under the name The Bank of Warwood. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and acquisitions, reflective of its growth and evolution in the banking industry. In 1974, it changed its name to The Bank of Warwood, National Association, and subsequently to First West Virginia Bank, National Association in 1984. Progressive Bank, National Association, was officially adopted as its name on November 15, 1995. The bank expanded its reach by acquiring various institutions, including Wellsburg Banking and Trust Company in Wellsburg, West Virginia, in 1993, and Progressive Bank, National Association in Bellaire, Ohio, in 1997. It further acquired Progressive Bank, National Association-Buckhannon in Buckhannon, West Virginia, in 2003. On April 30, 2018, Progressive Bank merged with Community Bank, based in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, marking the end of its independent operations.
