PrimeSouth Bank is a financial institution that was originally established as The Blackshear Bank in 1891, with its initial operations lacking Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance. The bank underwent significant changes throughout its history, becoming FDIC insured and a member of the Federal Reserve System on June 2, 1934. In 1990, the main office was relocated to 295 Highway 82 West in Blackshear, Georgia. Subsequent regulatory transitions occurred on January 31, 1997, when the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the FDIC and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. On April 21, 2003, the institution adopted the name PrimeSouth Bank. The main office was moved again on June 2, 2010, to a new location at 3473 Us Highway 84 in Blackshear, Georgia. Most recently, on September 9, 2017, PrimeSouth Bank expanded its operations by acquiring Atlantic National Bank in Brunswick, Georgia.
