Prairie Sun Bank is a community bank established on December 15, 1915, originally named Peoples State Bank of Milan. The institution underwent its first name change in April 1988, becoming Prairie State Bank, at which time it also acquired the Northwestern State Bank of Appleton in Appleton, Minnesota, and relocated its main office to 240 North Second Street in Milan, Minnesota. The bank later changed its name to Prairie Sun Bank on September 1, 2002. Expanding its footprint, Prairie Sun Bank acquired the State Bank of Marietta in Marietta, Minnesota, on April 27, 2019, followed by the acquisition of Union State Bank of Browns Valley in Browns Valley, Minnesota, on July 30, 2021.
