History Of Portage County Bank
Portage County Bank, originally established as The Portage County Bank in 1901, has undergone several name changes and relocations throughout its history. In 1972, it changed its name to M&I Bank of Portage County. The bank experienced a significant change in 1980 when it moved its main office to County Highway D and First Street in Almond, Wisconsin. This was followed by another name change to Portage County Bank on November 29, 1986, coinciding with a further relocation to 1155 County Road D in Almond. On December 4, 2016, the bank expanded by acquiring Bancroft State Bank located in Bancroft, Wisconsin. More recently, on June 10, 2020, the institution changed its name to The Portage County Bank.
