History Of Pony Express Community Bank
Pony Express Community Bank was established on December 23, 1975, under the original name of The First State Bank of Elwood. The bank underwent a significant name change on February 17, 1996, becoming Pony Express Community Bank. That same year, it expanded its operations by acquiring The Farmers State Bank located in Lucas, Kansas, while also relocating its main office to 624 Felix Street, St. Joseph, Missouri. Further growth continued in the following years with the acquisition of Bank of Paxton in Paxton, Nebraska, on January 1, 2010, and 1st Bank of Troy in Troy, Kansas, on June 1, 2013. On June 22, 2012, the main office was moved again to 3702 Faraon Street, Saint Joseph, Missouri. However, on November 9, 2019, Pony Express Community Bank merged and became part of First Option Bank, based in Osawatomie, Kansas.
