History Of Ponce Bank
Ponce Bank, originally established as Ponce De Leon Federal Savings and Loan Association on March 31, 1960, has undergone several name and organizational changes throughout its history. On April 11, 1985, it changed its name to Ponce De Leon Federal Savings Bank and shifted its organization type to a mutual savings bank. Subsequently, on September 21, 1996, it adopted the name Ponce De Leon Federal Bank. The bank's main office moved to 951 Southern Boulevard in the Bronx, New York, in 1996 and later relocated to 2244 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, New York, on January 1, 2008. On July 21, 2011, significant regulatory changes took place as the primary federal regulatory agency was altered to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the bank's class was redefined as a federal savings bank. Eventually, on September 29, 2017, the institution was renamed Ponce Bank and transitioned to a stock savings bank organization type.
