PNC Bank, originally established in 1804 as The National Newark and Essex Banking Company of Newark, has undergone significant transformations through various mergers and acquisitions. Over the years, the bank changed its name to National Newark & Essex Bank in 1966 and subsequently to Midlantic National Bank in 1973. In the late 20th century, PNC Bank began expanding through acquisitions, including the purchase of PNC Bank, National Association in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1996. The institution further grew by acquiring several regional banks, such as Midlantic National Bank/North and Hilliard Lyons Trust Company in 1991 and 2001, respectively. In 2009, PNC Bank acquired National City Bank and moved its main office to Wilmington, Delaware. I am so disappointed to discover that PNC apparently has ZERO interest in business from people who work full-time. Why on earth would you close your doors (including the drive-through) at 5:00 PM on a FRIDAY?! How are working people supposed to cash their paychecks?
