Planters First Bank is a financial institution with a history dating back to its establishment in 1896 as Planters Bank. Over the years, the bank has undergone several changes in its name and operational structure. On April 20, 1984, it changed its trust powers to a limited capacity and subsequently moved its main office to Main Street in Hawkinsville, Georgia. The bank continued to evolve and, on October 16, 1984, further modified its trust powers to limited. In 2000, Planters Bank acquired PlantersFIRST in Cordele, Georgia, marking a significant expansion in its operations. That same year, on August 24, the institution changed its name to PlantersFIRST and relocated its main office to 1620 East Sixteenth Avenue in Cordele.
