Pioneer State Bank was established on June 30, 1901, under the original name State Bank of Paw Paw, Illinois. Over the years, the bank underwent several significant changes, including a relocation of its main office to 235 Chicago Road in Paw Paw, Illinois, on January 19, 1976. On March 14, 2014, the bank changed its name to Pioneer State Bank and moved its main office to 137 South Main Street in Earlville, Illinois. On the same day, it acquired the National Bank of Earlville, further expanding its operations. Subsequently, on June 11, 2016, Pioneer State Bank acquired Farmers State Bank of Sublette, located in Sublette, Illinois.
