History Of Perpetual Federal Savings Bank

Perpetual Federal Savings Bank was established in 1878 under the name Perpetual Federal Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes, including a name change to Perpetual Federal Savings Bank on December 31, 1989, as well as a shift in organizational type from a mutual savings bank to a stock savings bank on April 17, 1991. The bank's main office was relocated to 120 North Main Street in Urbana, Ohio, on the same day it changed its name. On November 1, 2019, the bank transitioned to a commercial bank, changing its regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and becoming a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System. On July 21, 2011, prior to these changes, the primary federal regulatory agency had been the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Ultimately, on October 1, 2021, Perpetual Federal Savings Bank merged with The Farmers & Merchants State Bank, based in Archbold, Ohio.
