PeoplesBank, a financial institution established on January 25, 1934, originally operated under the name Peoples Bank of Glen Rock in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania. Over the decades, the bank underwent several regulatory and structural changes, including a shift to become a member of the Federal Reserve System on June 20, 1941. Following this, on December 15, 1973, it reclassified as a state-chartered bank and withdrew from Federal Reserve membership. The institution continued to evolve, gaining full trust powers in December 1979 and changing its name to PeoplesBank, a Codorus Valley Company on February 4, 1997. Its main office relocated multiple times, settling at 109 Leader Heights Road in York, Pennsylvania on April 17, 2013. Significant expansion occurred with the acquisition of Madison Square Federal Savings Bank in Baltimore, Maryland on January 17, 2015. Ultimately, on July 1, 2024, PeoplesBank merged with Orrstown Bank, based in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, marking the end of its independent operations.
