History Of Peoples State Bank & Trust
Peoples State Bank & Trust was established on July 1, 1966, in Baxley, Georgia, under the name Peoples State Bank. In a series of name changes, the institution became known as Peoples State Bank on June 4, 1970. Subsequent to this, the bank moved its main office several times within Baxley: first to North Main Street in 1970, then to East Parker and Comas Streets in 1977, and later to 201 East Parker Street in 1998. On March 31, 2006, the main office relocated again to 72 East Parker Street. The bank modified its trust powers to limited on September 13, 1988, and underwent a final name change to Peoples State Bank & Trust on February 2, 1976. The institution continued to operate until it merged with Pineland Bank, located in Alma, Georgia, on September 1, 2016, at which point it formally adopted the Pineland Bank name.
