History Of Peoples State Bank of Colfax
Peoples State Bank of Colfax is a financial institution that was established on June 1, 1892, originally named State Bank of Cooksville. On July 18, 1942, the institution changed its name to Peoples State Bank of Colfax and relocated its main office to 101 West Main Street in Colfax, Illinois. Following this, on August 17, 1944, the bank became a member of the Federal Reserve System and changed its primary regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. However, on October 24, 1968, the bank withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System and switched its primary regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), at which point it also changed its classification to a state-chartered bank that was not a member of the Federal Reserve System. The main office was again moved to its current location at 101 West Main Street in Colfax, Illinois, on August 29, 2021.
