Peoples Savings Bank was established on January 1, 1927, under the name Peoples Savings Bank. Over the decades, the bank underwent several changes in its location and operational capabilities. On September 19, 1977, it changed its trust powers to full, expanding the services it could provide to its customers. The main office moved several times: first to Main Street in Elma, Iowa, on September 30, 1989; then to 1407 South Grand in Charles City, Iowa, on June 1, 2000; and later back to 328 Main Street in Elma, Iowa, on November 7, 2005. Ultimately, on July 1, 2019, Peoples Savings Bank merged with Security State Bank located in Sutherland, Iowa, marking the end of its operations as a distinct entity.
