Peoples National Bank, previously known as The Peoples National Bank of McLeansboro, was established on March 1, 1909. The bank underwent several changes throughout its history, including a relocation of its main office multiple times. On March 19, 1990, the main office moved to Jackson and Market Streets in McLeansboro, Illinois. This was followed by another move on December 13, 1995, when the main office was relocated to 108 South Washington in McLeansboro, and the same day, the bank acquired Wayne County Bank and Trust Company in Fairfield, Illinois. On July 15, 2004, Peoples National Bank expanded further by acquiring Bank of Kimberling City in Kimberling City, Missouri. The institution changed its name to Peoples National Bank, N.A. on July 18, 2006, coinciding with a relocation of its main office to 520 South 42nd Street in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
