Peoples Exchange Bank

Peoples Exchange Bank was established on August 1, 1910, under the name The Peoples National Bank of Belleville. Over the years, it underwent several name changes and organizational shifts. On June 23, 1995, it changed its name to The Peoples Bank of Belleville and subsequently withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, becoming a state-chartered bank under the supervision of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The institution rebranded as Peoples Exchange Bank on August 1, 1998, following its acquisition of The Exchange Bank of Clyde in Clyde, Kansas. In January 2009, it changed its regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve and became a member of the Federal Reserve System. Peoples Exchange Bank underwent further consolidation, merging with American State Bank & Trust Company in Great Bend, Kansas, on July 11, 2016. The bank ultimately merged with Equity Bank in Andover, Kansas, on October 2, 2021, marking the end of its independent operations.
