Peoples Bank, originally established as Peoples National Bank on December 15, 1988, in Bogata, Texas, underwent several significant changes throughout its history. The bank acquired the First National Bank in Bogata shortly after its establishment. On January 2, 1990, the main office was relocated to 35 South Plaza, Paris, Texas. Subsequently, on May 11, 1990, the institution changed its name to Peoples National Bank-Paris. On March 3, 2004, a major transition occurred when the bank changed its name to Peoples Bank, updated its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, reclassified itself as a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System, and shifted its chartering agency to the state level. On the same day, the institution withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System.
