Peoples Bank of Commerce

Peoples Bank of Commerce was established on November 28, 1916, under the name Peoples State Bank of Spring Lake, Inc. Initially located in Spring Lake, the institution underwent a name change to Peoples State Bank of Cambridge on August 6, 1934, when it moved its main office to 45 Main Street South, Cambridge, Minnesota. The bank continued to grow and on April 27, 1990, it acquired Community State Bank of Princeton in Princeton, Minnesota, and subsequently changed its name to Peoples Bank of Commerce. The main office was relocated again on February 17, 1969, to 234 First Avenue East in Cambridge, Minnesota. On December 2, 2017, Peoples Bank of Commerce merged with First Bank & Trust, located in Brookings, South Dakota, resulting in its dissolution as an independent institution.
