History Of Peoples Bank
Peoples Bank was established on November 8, 1871, under the name The Peoples National Bank of Ottawa. Over the years, it underwent several name changes and expansions. On March 15, 1976, it was renamed Peoples National Bank & Trust, Ottawa. The bank continued to grow, acquiring The Bank of Louisburg in Louisburg, Kansas, on February 3, 1988, and subsequently changing its name to Peoples National Bank & Trust on February 17, 1988. On December 14, 2002, Peoples Bank acquired a branch in Taos, New Mexico, and relocated its main office to 4831 West 6th Street, Lawrence, Kansas. On the same date, the bank changed its name to Peoples Bank, modified its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve, and became a state-chartered bank. Eventually, on January 1, 2018, Peoples Bank merged with NBH Bank in Greenwood Village, Colorado, marking the end of its independent operations.
