History Of Peoples Bank
Peoples Bank is a financial institution that was established on May 29, 1900, under the name The First National Bank of Chesterhill in Chesterhill, Ohio. Over the years, the bank has undergone several name changes and acquisitions, significantly expanding its footprint. In 1989, the bank changed its name to The First National Bank of Southeastern Ohio and relocated its main office to Caldwell, Ohio. In March 2000, the institution was rebranded as Peoples Bank, National Association, and became a national bank member of the Federal Reserve System. Subsequent years saw a series of strategic acquisitions, including The First National Bank of Caldwell in July 1989, and a number of banks across Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia, such as The Guernsey Bank, f.s.b. in Cambridge, Ohio in June 2002, and First Federal Savings Bank in Sistersville, West Virginia in September 2012. In 2016, the institution adopted its current name, Peoples Bank.
