History Of Palmetto State Bank
Palmetto State Bank was established on January 1, 1907, originally operating under the name Loan and Exchange Bank. In 1970, the institution changed its name to Palmetto State Bank and relocated its main office to 206 Lee Avenue in Hampton, South Carolina. A subsequent move took place on April 1, 1982, when the main office was moved to 601 First Street, West, in Hampton. The bank underwent a change in its trust powers to limited status on October 4, 1991. Palmetto State Bank expanded its operations with the acquisition of The Exchange Bank in Estill, South Carolina, and Carolina Commercial Bank in Allendale, South Carolina, both occurring on February 17, 2007. More recently, on April 25, 2014, the bank acquired Allendale County Bank in Fairfax, South Carolina, as part of a government-assisted merger.
