HISTORY OF PACIFIC WESTERN BANK

Pacific Western Bank, initially established on April 21, 1941, as Rohr Employees Federal Credit Union, underwent several name changes and transformations over the decades. It became a federal credit union in 1994, adopting the name Pacific Trust Federal Credit Union. In 2000, the institution transitioned to become a mutual savings and loan, changing its name to Pacific Trust Bank, FSB. This was followed by a reorganization into a stock savings bank and a further name change to Pacific Trust Bank in 2002. The bank became commercially oriented in 2013, changing its name to Banc of California, National Association, and gaining membership in the Federal Reserve System. Over the years, Pacific Western Bank acquired several institutions including Gateway Business Bank in 2012, The Private Bank of California in 2013, and Pacific Mercantile Bank in 2021. The main office relocated several times, ultimately establishing itself in Santa Ana, California, in 2017. On December 1, 2023, Pacific Western Bank merged with Banc of California, marking a significant milestone in the bank's evolution.
