On June 14, 1990, the bank expanded by acquiring The Wimberley Bank located in Wimberley, Texas. In a major restructuring on June 25, 2021, Ozona Bank withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, resulting in a change of its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). This transition reclassified the bank as a state-chartered institution, and it also changed its chartering agency to the state level.
