History Of Opus Bank
Opus Bank was originally established on May 20, 1993, under the name Peninsula Bank, National Association, following its acquisition of Palos Verdes National Bank in Rolling Hills Estates, California. The institution underwent several name changes, becoming Peninsula National Bank on June 1, 1993, and later Bay Cities National Bank on November 30, 1995, following the acquisition of Bay Cities National Bank in Redondo Beach, California. On October 1, 2010, the bank changed its name to Opus Bank and adjusted its regulatory standing by withdrawing from the Federal Reserve System and becoming a state-chartered bank regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The bank continued to expand through acquisitions, including Cascade Bank in Everett, Washington, and Fullerton Community Bank, FSB in Fullerton, California, both acquired on October 31, 2011. The main office was relocated to Irvine, California, on the same date. Ultimately, on June 1, 2020, Opus Bank merged with Pacific Premier Bank and ceased to exist as an independent entity.
