History Of Opportunity Bank of Montana
Opportunity Bank of Montana, established in 1922 as the American Federal Savings and Loan Association of Helena, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. In 1991, the institution changed its name to American Federal Savings Bank and later transformed into a stock savings and loan organization in 2000. Following regulatory changes, the bank switched its primary federal regulatory agency to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 2011. On October 14, 2014, the bank adopted its current name, Opportunity Bank of Montana, and transitioned to a state-chartered bank, becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System. The bank has grown through a series of acquisitions, including the State Bank of Townsend in 2019, Ruby Valley Bank in 2018, and Western Bank of Wolf Point in 2020.
