HISTORY OF NATIONAL COOPERATIVE BANK
The National Cooperative Bank (NCB) has a history that traces back to its establishment on September 16, 1988, under the name NCB Savings Association. Initially, it was chartered by the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) and operated as a savings association. In 1991, the institution changed its name to NCB Savings Bank, FSB, reflecting its focus on providing financial services to cooperatives and related organizations. By February 29, 1992, NCB transitioned to a stock savings bank organization type. A significant acquisition occurred on October 31, 1988, when it acquired Anchor Savings Association located in Hillsboro, Ohio. In the subsequent years, particularly in 2001, it changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). This regulatory transition culminated on December 31, 2014, when NCB adopted its current name, National Cooperative Bank, N.A., and restructured as a commercial bank with national charter status, thereby becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System.
