History Of Mutual of Omaha Bank
Mutual of Omaha Bank, originally established as State Security Savings Company on May 23, 1985, underwent several identity and operational changes throughout its history. On January 31, 1987, it transformed into State Security Savings, a Federal Savings Bank, and subsequently changed its chartering agency to the Office of Thrift Supervision. The institution adopted the name Mutual of Omaha Bank on October 26, 2007, following the acquisition of Nebraska State Bank of Omaha and Peak National Bank. Over the next decade, Mutual of Omaha Bank expanded its operations through several acquisitions, including significant mergers with institutions such as First Heritage Bank in Newport Beach, California, and First National Bank of Nevada in Reno, Nevada, both in July 2008, as part of government-assisted mergers. In 2011, the bank transitioned to full trust powers and changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The bank's main office moved to various locations in Omaha, Nebraska, before its final relocation to 1299 Farnam Street in January 2019. On January 1, 2020, Mutual of Omaha Bank merged into Cit Bank, National Association in Pasadena, California, and subsequently became part of First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company in Raleigh, North Carolina, on January 4, 2022.
