History Of Mutual Bank

Mutual Bank was established on January 1, 1889, originally named Mutual Federal Savings Bank of Plymouth County. Over the years, it underwent several significant changes, including a relocation of its main office to 570 Washington Street, Whitman, Massachusetts, on June 30, 1989. The institution experienced a regulatory shift on July 21, 2011, when its primary federal regulatory agency was changed to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. On September 25, 2013, it transitioned to a cooperative bank structure and became a member of the Federal Reserve System, with the institution name officially changing to Mutual Bank on the same date. Following this, it also altered its chartering agency to the state and adjusted its bank class to a state-chartered bank. On November 10, 2006, Mutual Bank expanded its operations by acquiring Security Federal Savings Bank in Brockton, Massachusetts. However, on April 30, 2019, Mutual Bank merged and became part of North Easton Savings Bank, located in South Easton, Massachusetts.
