MontroseBank was established on April 23, 1971, originally under the name Mountain Industrial Bank. Initially, the institution was not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). On July 3, 1984, it became FDIC insured and joined the Federal Reserve System, marking a significant milestone in its operations. The bank changed its name to First Mountain State Bank on August 1, 1986, and subsequently transitioned to a commercial bank on October 1, 1985. On November 4, 1991, the main office moved to 200 North Townsend Avenue, Montrose, Colorado. The institution rebranded as MontroseBank on September 1, 1995. In a significant development on February 2, 2015, MontroseBank merged with Bank of Colorado, headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado.
