Monticello Banking Company was established in 1895 and originally operated under the name The Monticello Banking Company. Over its long history, the institution has undergone several changes in location and structure. The main office moved multiple times, with significant relocations occurring in 1989 to 216 North Main Street in Monticello, Kentucky, in 1999 to 340 Clifty Street in Somerset, Kentucky, in 2000 to 475 East Highway 80 in Somerset, and subsequently returning to various locations in Monticello, including 116 North Main in 2000 and 50 North Main in 2009. In 2002, Monticello Banking Company expanded through the acquisition of Bank of Clinton County, Inc. in Albany, Kentucky. On November 2, 2010, the institution transitioned to a state charter and became a member of the Federal Reserve System, making a significant regulatory change.
