Midwest Bank, originally established as Farmers State Bank of Waubun, Incorporated in June 1917, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. On April 11, 1990, the bank's main office was relocated to Main Street in Waubun, Minnesota. This location was later changed on June 1, 1998, to 116 East Front Street in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. The institution rebranded as Midwest Bank on July 14, 1997. Subsequently, on March 10, 2003, the main office was again moved to 613 Highway 10 East, also in Detroit Lakes. Most recently, on February 13, 2006, Midwest Bank acquired Midwest Bank, National Association, located in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota.
