Midstates Bank, National Association, is a financial institution that was established on January 1, 1913, under the name The Harlan National Bank in Harlan, Iowa. Over the years, the bank underwent several significant changes, including a name change to Midstates Bank, National Association on December 31, 1996. That same year, it expanded its operations through the acquisition of Citizens National Bank in Avoca, Iowa, and The First National Bank in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
