History Of Middlesex Savings Bank
Middlesex Savings Bank is a financial institution established on March 5, 1835, originally named Middlesex Institution for Savings. The bank was not initially insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). On December 1, 1970, it changed its name to Middlesex Institution for Savings and relocated its main office to 64 Main Street, Concord, Massachusetts. The institution became FDIC insured on November 8, 1985, and on February 1, 1982, it adopted the name Middlesex Savings Bank, while also moving its main office to 6 Main Street, Natick, Massachusetts. Throughout the years, it has expanded its operations through acquisitions, including Natick Five Cents Savings Bank on February 1, 1982, and Assabet Institution for Savings in Maynard, Massachusetts, on May 2, 1988. On July 1, 2009, Middlesex Savings Bank further expanded by acquiring Strata Bank in Medway, Massachusetts. The bank transitioned to a Stock Savings Bank on June 19, 2009.
