History Of Merit Bank

Merit Bank was originally established on September 21, 1904, as The First National Bank of Goff in Goff, Kansas. Over the course of its history, the institution underwent several name changes and regulatory adjustments. On March 20, 1990, the main office was relocated to Main Street in Goff, Kansas. On July 1, 1997, the bank changed its name to The First State Bank of Goff and transitioned to a state-chartered bank, becoming regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) rather than the Federal Reserve System. Subsequently, on August 20, 2008, the institution adopted the name Merit Bank. The bank's main office was moved to 5200 Stahl Avenue in Goff, Kansas on June 1, 2010, and later relocated to 10000 College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas on August 18, 2014. On April 28, 2017, Merit Bank merged with Academy Bank, National Association, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which marked the end of its independent operations.
