History Of Meridian Bank Texas

Meridian Bank Texas, originally established as Velasco State Bank on April 9, 1907, underwent several name changes and relocations throughout its history. In 1957, the main office moved to Freeport, Texas, and the bank was renamed Brazosport Bank of Commerce. By 1973, the institution adopted the name Brazosport Bank of Texas. Significant growth occurred in 1991 when it changed names to First Commerce Bank and acquired First Commerce Bank, National Association in Corpus Christi, Texas, along with relocating its main office. In 2007, the bank was renamed Meridian Bank Texas and moved its main office within Fort Worth, Texas. In 2014, it expanded further by acquiring State Bank and Trust Company located in Carrollton, Texas. On May 31, 2015, Meridian Bank Texas merged with and became part of UMB Bank, National Association based in Kansas City, Missouri.
