History Of Meridian Bank

Meridian Bank, originally established as Community Bank of Wickenburg on May 1, 1978, underwent several changes and acquisitions throughout its history. In 1981, the institution changed its name to Community Bank of Arizona. The bank continued to expand, acquiring Liberty Bank in Glendale, Arizona, on September 1, 1989. On January 29, 2002, it changed its name again to Community Bank of Arizona, National Association, and transitioned to a national bank charter under the oversight of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Following its membership in the Federal Reserve System, the bank rebranded as Meridian Bank, National Association, on October 10, 2003, after acquiring Valley Bank of Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona. The bank relocated its main office several times, with notable moves to Wickenburg, Arizona, in 1996, and later to East Camelback Road in Phoenix in 2011. Ultimately, on May 31, 2015, Meridian Bank merged with Umb Bank, National Association, based in Kansas City, Missouri, marking the end of its operations as an independent institution.
