History Of Merchants and Manufacturers Bank
Merchants and Manufacturers Bank was initially established as East Joliet Bank in Joliet, Illinois, on September 24, 1969. The institution underwent a series of name changes and restructurings throughout its history. On April 19, 1979, it changed its name to East Joliet Bank, followed by another name change to Westbank/Will County on March 20, 1987. In the same year, the bank's trust powers were modified to limited. It further transitioned to Bank of Joliet on May 1, 1993, and subsequently, on February 19, 1997, changed its trust powers to none. The bank rebranded as Merchants and Manufacturers Bank on September 1, 2000. Merchants and Manufacturers Bank expanded its operations by acquiring First Bank of Channahon on September 24, 1988. Ultimately, the bank merged with Busey Bank based in Champaign, Illinois, on June 21, 2024, concluding its independent operations.
