HISTORY OF MEETINGHOUSE BANK
Meetinghouse Bank was established on January 1, 1914, under the original name of The Meeting House Hill Co-operative Bank. Initially, it was not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The bank underwent a name change to Meetinghouse Co-operative Bank on January 17, 1984, and subsequently moved its main office to 2250 Dorchester Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts, on December 30, 1989. On March 7, 2007, it rebranded as Meetinghouse Bank. In a significant organizational shift, the bank changed its type to a Cooperative Bank Stock on November 19, 2012. Meetinghouse Bank was merged into East Boston Savings Bank on December 29, 2017, and later, on November 12, 2021, it became part of Rockland Trust Company, headquartered in Rockland, Massachusetts.
