Mechanics Bank, originally established as the Mechanics Building and Loan Company in 1886, has undergone several changes throughout its history. On December 1, 1993, the institution changed its name to The Mechanics Savings Bank, while also transitioning its organization type to a stock savings bank and designating the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as its primary federal regulatory agency. The same day, the main office was relocated to 2 South Main Street, Mansfield, Ohio, 44902. In October 2013, Mechanics Bank expanded its capabilities by acquiring full trust powers. On December 8, 2010, the institution adopted its current name, Mechanics Bank.
