Marion State Bank was established on January 1, 1906, in Marion, Texas. Initially, the bank functioned as a member of the Federal Reserve System. On July 1, 1942, it became a state-chartered bank and continued its membership in the Federal Reserve. However, on November 20, 1964, Marion State Bank withdrew from the Federal Reserve System, changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and reclassifying as a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve. The bank's main office was located at 310 West San Antonio Street until July 27, 1987, when it relocated to 301 West San Antonio Street.
